Environmental Performance and Environmental KPI summary 2024
Staunton Foods further improved its environmental performance in 2024 by achieving the following:
Biodiversity Program. Continual improvement of the site’s biodiversity program, by sponsoring the planting of approximately 60 native tree species and 60 pollinator plants, both onsite and offsite through biodiversity promoting NGOs in 2024 and 2025.
Completion of phase 1 of a 460kw solar energy system to contribute to reducing the site’s carbon footprint.
Energy usage reduced by 2.3% versus 2023.
9.85% Scope 1 + 2 emissions reduction achieved in 2024 versus 2022 baseline figure, and on track with the site’s Origin Green Sustainability Plan target of 8% Scope 1 + 2 emission reductions by year end 2027.
Installation of Heat Recovery System to improve energy efficiency and reduce the site’s gas usage, scope 1 emissions and carbon footprint.
Sustainability certified raw material suppliers contracted to ensure sustainability in the company’s supply chain.
Reduce groundwater usage target per unit of 2.11 m3/t (Baseline 2022) by 10% by the end of 2027. Targets met for 2023 and 2024 and on track for the rest of the site’s sustainability plan duration.
Waste Management: General waste & recycling (excluding hazardous, by-product and sludges) in tonnes reduced by 9.83% since 2022.
